What is it?:

This herb is very commonly used in Chinese medicine for a wide variety of applications, such as: aiding sluggish digestion, helping to de-toxify the body, helping alleviate fatigue, and helping to soothe muscle cramps; it also goes to all 12 acupuncture meridians in the body, which means that it helps formulas with many ingredients to work more synergistically (i.e. Gan cao "harmonizes" complex formulas).

Lastly, it has a gentle sweetness to it and is often used to make bitter decoctions go down a little easier!!!

It is important to understand that Chinese herbs work by restoring balance to the body. This means that you usually have to take an herb or a formula for a longer period of time than you would with pharmaceuticals in order to get results-- usually at least a month, and often times longer than that... it all depends on the individual and the nature of the ailment being addressed.
